On my one and only (to date) long distance walk, solo, the wrong way from Filey to Hessle, near Hull. The wrong way, because all the guides told you to start at Hull and end at Filey. To me, it would be easier, obviously, walking downhill, southwards! I had visited the area a few years before on an archaeological dig and noticed the gorgeous light, the big skies. I took this photograph on the first or second day out from Filey. It shows a simple cornfield. The combination of flaxen grasses under big skies took me and I saved the photograph. It's always been one of my favourites. I had no idea that, one day, I'd paint it.

My partner liked it and asked if she could have it. She made the frame. There is no glass. She uses varnish to finish the painting. It hands in her living room; now the third household to display my paintings! I've asked her to show me how to make the frames, as, I've discovered, the cost of getting them made is a lot.
