Progess shots

This is the third in the series, depicting the rally against an Arms Fair in Liverpool. Not bad arising from a moment's awareness that aIthough I hadn't taken any photos on the march, I could do here and paint them. I had no idea then they would turn into three paintings.Next time, I will take greater care in the framing of the shot with regard to people and buildings.
So, what of them? I think this will become the best one for me. It was my third go, so it is better, I feel. In readiness for this, I turned again to Hamid Akib's Vibrant Acrylics description of painting figures, particularly skin tones and clothing. The figures are better done, I feel, especially the central figure. The other figures could be better done. I gave up a little towards the end of the session. In this, this painting is unfinished. I could go back and develop the individuals and groups more. The entrance to the cathedral needs bells adding. Or not. I think a little of The Scream when I look at the character on the right. But I did have a moment when I bewailed the fact I paint in pushes. Why can I not just paint something that looks like it is?!? And yet, what I saw from the beginning inmy painting style is showing objects, made up by their molecules and atoms, which never stand still. And I think, wow, I did that! I like that. The light in this one is appealing. It is all accidental, the magic of painting.
Friends and family say they can see me developing, but it's harder for me to see. And yet, I am happy with it. The sky is one of the best I've done. The top of the cathedral draws my eye. And the central figure seems to me like they have just arrived on the plateau to lend support. They seem solid, planted, looking around and up, which is why I thought of the title, Everyone, for the title.
All told, not bad for three weeks' work! I look forward to seeing where I will be in three year's time and enjoying the journey?
It would be good to see we can also get rid of this Arms' Fair and the reasons for it.
