Keeping your gutters clean is a perennial problem, right? My kitchen window looks side-on to my neighbour's wall. Growing in the gutter was a lovely flowering sedum or wild thyme. I photographed the scene to show my neighbour what was happening. The rain water was overpouring the downspout. I noticed it also made a beautiful scene, one I could paint.

I like the contrast between primary red and blue. I enjoyed trying to create the effect of the light on wet slate. With much to learn, I enjoyed doing this and am pleased with how it turned out. It sits on my red wall of paintings above a living room window.
