Weeping silver birch
A4, paper, acrylic, 15 June 2020
Progess shots

This is one of my favourites. With bright blues, greens and yellows, how could it not be?!? And yet, each stage could have brought disaster. And I am thinking this in my head, as I work. The perspectives are not quite right, I know, but they work. It is amazing what paint can do. A splash and some dots give you a roofline. The focus is (or was) the beautiful weeping silver birch in my neighbour's garden. I have work to do on my brambles and trellis, I know. But look at the floor! It was part-brightness, part-shadow. I would say I didn't do it, though I held the brush. Fairer to say, I didn't know how it would turn out. And I love it. I gaze up at it in the kitchen at meal times and feel joyful. I did that!
